As our slogan says 38 Gamers is a fan site dedicated to covering the games from 38 Studios. That said who are the people behind 38 Gamers? Well for now at least it’s just me Dean “Vanguard” Lester a long time MMORPG vet who started playing EverQuest back when it was released in 1999. In fact that is where the name Vanguard comes from. I played a Barbarian warrior named Vanguard on the Quellious server, long before the MMORPG came out. 
I then moved on to EverQuest II and finally World of Warcraft which I am still playing. Along the way I have tried pretty much all of the other MMOG’s that have been released.
I have followed the careers and even met some of the people who now work at 38 Studios. I hung out and eventually became one of the moderators of the infamous eqii.com site and was invited to attend a Gamers Conference and SOE Fan Faire in Las Vegas. Curt Schilling stopped by and I got to meet Steve “Moorgard” Danuser and Ryan “Blackguard” Shwayder and hang out with them which was very cool!
One of the things that I walked away with from the experience was that while many of the people who work in the industry are passionate about what they do, the business side of things often forces them to settle or rush a game before its ready. I used to think I wanted to be in the industry but the experience left me with a resolve that it was not for me.
Then the announcement that Curt Schilling was going to start a new gaming company. One that treated its employee’s differently. Curt Schilling is at heart a gamer, like you and me, who is now getting the chance to make the game he has always wanted to play. I trust Curt and team to create something special and something we will all want to play. He has assembled an all star team of industry veterans and I can’t wait to see what they create!
So now you know my story and the reason for starting this fan site. I look forward to reporting on all the latest news and providing gamers a place to check out all the latest info and voice their opinions.
